Songs, Airs and Dances from Jane Austen’s Notebooks

Musical gatherings, dances, and private concerts are all referred to regularly by Jane Austen, and her extensive music collection contains songs, lessons and concertos from the mid-18th. century to the latest published dances. As well as numerous songs – some with versions for flute – there is a considerable amount of harp music, and Jane Austen is believed to have heard the renowned harpist Sophia Dussek play – and may even have played to her. Delve in Jane Austen’s notebooks with music performed by Musica Domestica (Sophia Brumfitt – Mezzo Soprano; William Summers – Flute; Taro Takeuchi – Harp–Lute; Guitar).
